The story behind the Desk Cube

In 2015 the workshop was mostly making furniture, and the office side of it was a disaster. One afternoon, fed up with a desk buried under chargers and pens, we cut a slot and a tray into an offcut block of bamboo, oiled it, and put the phone in the slot. It charged upright. The pens had a home. The cables ran through the channel instead of across the desk.

People who came through the workshop kept asking about it. So we made a few more. Then a few hundred more. The Desk Cube has barely changed since, because the first one already did the job.
